Professor Tim Congdon, CBE is one of the Britain’s leading economic commentators and advised a Chancellor of the Exchequer on economic policy. In 1989 he founded Lombard Street Research, one of the City of London’s leading economic consultancies, and was its managing director until 2001. In 2009 he set up another research business, International Monetary Research Ltd. The institute monitors trends in money and banking around the world. As well as advising companies and financial institutions on the wider macroeconomic impact of monetary developments. Professor Congdon is also the author of the Bruges Group paper, The City of London in retreat. Professor Congdon is a member of the Bruges Group’s Academic Advisory Council. |
Dr Gerard Lyons is the Chief Economic Adviser to Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London. He provides the Mayor with strategic advice and intelligence to ensure the right policies are in place to support the capital’s businesses in particular financial services. Dr Lyons is the former Chief Economist and Group Head of Global Research at Standard Chartered as his Chief Economic Adviser. Previously he held the roles of Chief Economist and Executive Director at DKB International and Chief UK Economist at Swiss Bank Corporation. Dr Lyons is a widely cited economic forecaster. He has repeatedly been awarded “top forecaster” by the Sunday Times. And was ranked by Bloomberg as the number one global forecaster in 2010 and 2011. |
