An Unholy Alliance

The left were always solidly against the Common Market and remained so as it evolved through the EEC to EU. The reason was simple. Its rules stood in the way of a Socialist state. Blair, having defeated Clause 4, became an ardent advocate of the EU and repositioned Labour as a centre party. Labour has always been a target for extremist entryism and Blair was responding to the long battle with Militant tendency and the expulsion of its members – a policy opposed by Jeremy Corbyn.

Now, we find that the Momentum controlled left are in favour of our membership of the EU. In favour of overturning democracy and reneging on the Labour party's election promises. Socialism and the EU have in common that neither belief is capable of coexistence. Fundamentally, both are religions and demand absolute obedience to their "holy" writ. Superficially, Momentum's position is odd, but there is logic for a movement that does not accept democracy.

It bears repeating that democracy can only function with the consent of the losers. Indeed, that is the only way it has prevailed. Since WW2 no British government has secured a majority of votes cast in an election. In 1945, Attlee imposed Socialism with 47.7%. In 1955, the Conservatives came within a majority whisker polling 49.6%. In 1997, Blair achieved 43.2%. Since then, it has been downhill: 2001 40.7%, 2005 35.0%. Cameron's 2015 36.9% was only marginally better. It's against this decline that the extraordinary result of the 2016 referendum must be judged. 51.89% voted to leave the EU. The turnout of 72.21% was higher than for any election since 1992.

Those who claim the referendum was "Advisory" ignore the promises made by the government and campaigners prior to the vote. Doing so they ignore the fundamental basis of our system - that we consent to be ruled, that we consent to our laws and that unwritten contracts have legal force. No one questions the 1975 EEC referendum. Then, the government's leaflet contained the pledge "Now the time has come for you to decide. The Government will accept your decision — whichever way it goes." The decision to stay in the EEC was accepted; no naysayer funded by wealthy foreigners went to court. The speaker did not find "Creative" ways to disrupt parliament. So what has changed?

Democracy, our constitution itself is being destroyed by an unholy alliance. Pro EU MPs rely on Burke to justify defying the people. Ignoring the manifestos they were elected on, many hop from party to party like demented political Casanovas. A rogue speaker abuses his position to give them power without responsibility. Multinational Corporations and wealthy speculators join them and fund court actions to undermine democracy. Scots Nationalists see the destruction of British democracy as their ticket to independence. Labour cynically supports these groups seeing "Socialist" advantage in their stance. The last group to join is the judiciary. On September 24, in an extraordinary act of constitutional vandalism the Supreme Court usurped parliament and arrogated to itself the power to make law. Eleven of its members decided to ignore the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Master of the Rolls and the President of the Queen's Bench Division and reverse their earlier High Court judgement. In doing so, they invented a law to declare, retrospectively that they could rule on political matters. (Lord Sumption said on the BBC Today programme (25. September) "The Supreme Court had to invent a new law in order to find the prorogation unlawful." In his own words this was a "revolutionary" act.)

In our system Parliament makes Laws and the Courts enforce them. The Supreme Court has usurped parliament to make law. Acting as the UK branch of the ECJ they have decided to sweep aside our Common Law in favour of the rule of writ that is Civil Law. Their power grab is unsurprising for people who are ardent admirers of the EU As Koen Lenaerts President of the ECJ wrote when comparing Common Law and the ECJ: "Parliament can do no wrong. So an act of the parliament of Westminster cannot be quashed in a British court." Until that is, without a by your leave the Supreme Court decided to change our constitution to bring it into line with the EU. Parliamentarians who seek to justify their defiance of democracy on the grounds of "Protecting parliamentary democracy" welcomed the decision, proving that some Turkeys' do indeed vote for Christmas. In reality, they are just useful idiots. If this unholy alliance is successful, there can only be one winner.

The Momentum communist controlled Labour party dreams of a Soviet Socialist Republic. Of course, it may seem absurd that in 2019 there are people who dream of using Lenin's tactics to overthrow democracy and impose "Socialism." But, a glance at the beliefs and support of its leaders, decisions by the party's conference and Momentum bully boy tactics should disabuse them. Nevertheless, it is a dream that leads them to support the anti democrat pro EU faction. Quite simply, their dream can only come about through chaos. In the hope of their Lenin moment, they support the very tactic that anti democrats have pursued since the referendum.

I have written before that the EU is a religious cult, something David Cameron confirmed in his biography, he wrote, "While trying to renegotiate terms with the EU, to them, I was a dangerous heretic stamping on their sacred texts." The EU is the 21st century equivalent of the inquisition using economic power instead of waterboarding and burning at the stake to silence heretics. The EU thrives on chaos. Every crisis is an opportunity to add another imperial element. There are those who support the EU Empire, those who imagine they will control the monster they are creating. It is an illusion.

Our choice is simple. It is between a totalitarian EU Empire based on civil law that does not countenance individual sovereignty, or a return to our roots. Acknowledging that the sovereignty of the people is the basis of our freedom. If democracy fails, we will be locked into a monstrous imperial experiment that will ultimately fail as all empires do. We have the opportunity to plough our own furrow. To return to the values that have built this country, provided inspiration for other democracies and repeatedly saved Europe from itself.

Membership of the EU has corrupted our system. It has turned a proud democracy and honest judiciary into objects of shame.

366 years ago Oliver Cromwell dismissed the Long Parliament and some of his words are pertinent today.

"It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonoured by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage..

Is there a man among you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; You were deputed here by the people to get grievances redressed, you are yourselves become the greatest grievance." So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go!"

Parliament has conspired to disenfranchise the people. They refuse to honour democracy and refuse to allow us to exercise our sovereign right. They squat in Westminster at our expense. It is intolerable and any means necessary to restore the people's rights is right and proper. I hope Boris Johnson has the courage of Cromwell and the greatness of Churchill to always respect the rights of Britons.
