Between the huffing, puffing and wheezing as a group of us old farts peddle away on our stationary bikes in the gym, there is often a lot of banter, especially taking the micky about the football teams each of the chaps support.
The reason we are all there at the Heartcare gym is due to all of us having various heart problems or, as in my case, suffering a stroke in November 2016, of which I am pleased to say I am pretty well fully recovered. The banter is usually quite friendly and everyone enjoys the fun while we peddle away. However, one of the chaps there who is not the most popular due to him being a know-all, one day started to be critical of Brexit and announced what a disaster it was.
Most of my fellow gaspers know my stance on the EU and know I have stood for UKIP in both local and general elections. They all kept quiet as they watched me begin to comment how we need to urgently get out of the EU as fast as possible. As far as I am concerned it is a case of no deal, no fear, no problem. Between this man who, just because he considers as a reader of the Times newspaper he is the most knowledgable person on God's earth and for me who has been studying the workings of the EU from 1991,I know a lot. From then on the debate got a bit heated as everyone else looked on. We finished at a stalemate as he refused to listen to me and everything he said in support of the EU was proven nonsense.
A few days later when we returned to the gym I was prepared, I had printed off some of my own Euro Realist newsletters which I have been producing for twenty one years, plus some other information proving just what a disaster the EU is not only for us in the UK, but for the other nations trapped in that anti-democratic organisation. I handed him a brown envelope packed full of stuff proving just how wrong he was to support our continued entrapment in the EU.
Included in this pack was a print off of an e-mail I had just received from the organisation, Economist for Free Trade (EFT), which is made up of many highly respected economists, some of whom have been serious journalists and Government advisers. They had done in depth research which forecasts that a £25billion Brexit dividend would be available from 2020 and a further £40billion from 2025. The following time I attended the gym a few days later my pro-EU puffer and wheezer gym fellow informed me he had glanced through the mass of information I had given him and, according to him, these economists had got their figures wrong! I was astounded, the debate started again and ended when I declared I believed them and concluded that all 'Remainers' lie as they are the ones who get everything wrong. This has made me wonder how we open such closed pro-EU minds as my gym know-all.
Every time there are news bulletins from outside the Houses of Parliament there are the pro-EU idiots waving their blue flags with the EU's noose of gold stars. Why do they prefer to be governed by people who have no allegiance to the UK, who are not elected and they, or the rest of us, have no control over. We have to ask, what is the matter with these people?
Sadly, they are so brainwashed by the lies that EU membership is vital to the UK and that the EU has brought about peace in Europe their minds are closed to all reason. They can't see the enormous problems the EU has created across Europe and how it is bleeding the UK taxpayer dry due to the UK having to be the second largest contributor to EU funding.
I have come to the conclusion the only way we can prove to these closed minds just how wrong they are is for us to leave the EU without compromise and when we, inevitably, begin to boom as a free trading global nation once again, then the closed minds may open and begin to realise just how foolish and wrong they were.
