Help make Estonia's EU accession referendum fair

Robert Oulds

On 14th September 2003 Estonia will be asked to join the European Union and renounce Article 1 of its Constitution, which reads:
“The independence and sovereignty of Estonia are timeless and inalienable.”

If Estonia joins the EU the acquis communautaire will force them to give up their highly competitive low tax and low regulation economy. That means that while the bureaucrats will benefit from EU membership the people will not.

To resist what the EU has in store for us we need to stand together. The British and Estonian eurosceptic movements go back a long way let us go into the future together.

Lord Pearson of Rannoch says,

“If Estonia votes against joining the European Union, she will strike a tremendous blow for truth and freedom across the whole of Europe. The British Euro-sceptic cause would gain enormously; how could the Euro-philes go on pretending that the UK can not prosper outside the EU if Estonia, with a population of 1.5 million, shows the way?

“Please give as much as you can to help them do so.”

Baroness Thatcher spoke in 1999 on the possibility of Estonia joining the EU;

“I therefore urge Estonia and other central European States to consider all the factors very carefully before taking such a fundamental and irrevocable decision, for which your country could pay a heavy price.”

The pro-EU side has been allocated a very large amount of state money. The Sovereignty side has been allocated nothing. Therefore, as your money is already funding the ‘yes’ side involuntarily through taxes. We would like to invite you to pay a share of the ‘no’ side too - but voluntarily with a gift.
