The Forth Brexit Crusade

The Forth Brexit Crusade

The fourth crusade led by the Papacy and it's stated objective was to recapture the Muslim-controlled city of Jerusalem, by defeating the powerful Egyptian Ayyubid Sultanate. However, any theological historian can tell you that this "righteous" cause was too soon fail, not because god was not on their side but it quickly fell out of Papal control and bickering of the aims became apparent to the papal states and the rest of Christian Europe.

That being said, our objective was to leave the European Union and to manage to get the best out of leaving the EU. However, we know Brexit for the past years has not been influenced by Brexiteers, instead losing that momentum and allowing for compromise that has poisoned Brexit since Boris Johnson's EU Treaty. The recent news of the Brexit Freedoms Bill has just presented a mirror reflection of the fourth crusade, The Bill had an initial good cause and had an excellent foundation with a paradigm for all other EU red tape yet to only be side-lined and it's ultimate demise with it's reformed "aims".

It was quintessential during the EU Referendum that retaining British Parliamentary sovereignty from eroding provisions of the European Union was a key promise. We were told the days of Strasbourg and Brussels foreign legislation would be completely faded out and that our superior courts and traditions of the rule of law would have a British basis to it.

Yet after seven years we are still shackled to the regulations of the European Union and just on the date of the 28th of April 2023, the proposed heroic cavalier bill, The Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill, also coined by many as our "Brexit Freedoms Bill" championed by the former cabinet Brexiter Jacob Rees-Mogg, is now being battered down to only remove 800 statutes and regulations that stall the benefits of a true Brexit.

This retreat, while undesirable, was only one of the issues prevailing in an increasingly woke House of Lords ,when TINO Tory peers warned they would join a cross-party revolt in the House of Lords against the vote on the Brexit Freedoms Bill.

Intuitively for the Conservative Party, this meant not holding the report stage of the bill in the Lords after Easter, to prevent a Brexiteer row in the run-up to the local elections on the 4th May and allow the TINO's to strip down the Bill by caving in to compromise.

This scrappy retreat was announced after a meeting between Kemi Bandenoch, Trade Secretary, who told Brexiteer ERG members that only 800 statues would be sunsetted and scrapped instead of the original 4,000.Aside from the Active 1,824 legal cases being thrusted by the EU Commission of Ursula von der Leyen, against all 27 member countries, this highlights the insecurities of the EU, to only weaken the UK's sovereignty and control over its own laws. The reality provides us a gateway to the necessity to leave the EU.The failure to remove the original 4000 burdensome EU statues is a fiasco for the UK's commitment to a true Brexit, preferring a on paper Brexit benefits Government white paper.(Mind you there are more than 50,000 EU statutes and red tape provisions entrenched in the UK over last 25 years).

If you didn't think the Raab Bullying claims were bad to lower the standard of civil servants at the expense of the Government, well think again, with many ministers with Remainer civil servants constantly delaying Brexit benefits. This is purely a cop out for Brexit. If these latest blows to the government  efforts to show the benefits of Brexit continue,  it won't be long until the civil servants will outright campaign to re-join the EU as a whole. Daniel Hannan's recent article for the Daily Mail surely does exemplify why it is only Brexiteer ministers accused of "bullying".

An example of Remainer ignorance of such-minded civil servants is former British ambassador Alexandra Hall Hall stating "it was a common sense" to allow for more costly regulation. Surely, for Mrs Alexandra Hall Hall it would be easy common sense for her… in her metropolitan progressive minded views, who contributed to Brexit mishaps by abandoning her post as Lead envoy for Brexit in the British Embassy in Washington..

However, on a pragmatic outlook any failure of the Bill could be seen as a victory for the pro-EU camp. The bill is seen as a key part of the UK's post-Brexit future, and its failure could be seen as a setback for the wider Eurosceptic movement. This could embolden the pro-EU camp, making it more difficult for Eurosceptic voices to be heard and for change to be implemented.

In all, to bring it back to the idea of our crusade objective to leave the European Union, what this ultimately entailed was for Brexit to mean something worthwhile. The UK must be sovereign and independent as a nation , with all the power of the judiciary and the legislative brought back home.

The future is dependent on the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill if it is meant to be the real deal or likely just a major blow to another Bill subverted by progressive rebels. The Government is to give itself until the end of 2023 to decide which laws they want to scrap, retain or replace, it is in their hands now.
