This is a hard-hitting critique of the dangerous 'transgender' ideology. This ideology's central claim is that men can be some form of women - 'transwomen'. Anyone who questions this is labelled, libeled, 'transphobic'.
One of President Biden's first acts was to sign an 'Executive Order Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation'. It defined sex to include 'gender identity'; all federal agencies were to interpret sex in a way that ignores sex.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) claims that "gender identity is the medical term for a person's internal, innate sense of belonging to a particular sex." But 'gender identity' is not a medical term, it is a loaded phrase, intended to obscure the fact that biological sex, not 'gender identity', is real.
As Dansky points out, "it is simply not the case that a person's sex is based on an internal, innate sense of anything. This simply is a gross misrepresentation of reality." In 'transgenderism', sex does not exist as a material reality: biology is socially constructed, subjective identity is supreme. But in the real world, biological sex is grounded in material reality, 'gender identity' is not.
When this dreadful ideology is put into practice, it has dreadful results. Men calling themselves women are taking over women's sports, institutions and groups.
If a man wants to have a better chance to win sporting medals, all he has to do is declare that he is a woman. If a man wants to be housed in a women-only domestic violence shelter, whose very purpose is to house women escaping abusive men, all he has to do is declare that he is a woman. Men calling themselves women represent and replace women in every part of society.
'Gender identity' is a movement for men's sexual entitlement. Dansky quotes a friend of hers: "All of transgenderism is misogynistic and antithetical to radical feminism. … it's the ultimate penetration of our bodies by men."
The efforts of lesbians, gay men, and bisexual people to get fair treatment were popular democratic movements. By contrast, 'trans' is big business, a top-down, corporate-driven enterprise designed to sell products and to maximise profits, fueled by a small handful of extremely wealthy men.
For example, Jon Stryker is heir to the Stryker Corporation, a medical device and technology company that brings in nearly $15 billion a year. In 2000 he founded the Arcus Foundation, which gives millions of dollars to 'LGBT' causes. In 2015, it announced plans to earmark $20 million specifically for 'transgender' causes. In 2021, Stryker gave the ACLU $15 million to advance its 'LGBT' causes in law and policy.
But resistance is growing. "Increasing numbers of lesbians, gay men, and bisexual people (LGB) are taking a stand against the inclusion of the 'T' in the acronym. In this connection, it is important to understand that sexual orientation and 'gender identity' are not remotely the same thing, although they are typically linked together via the acronym 'LGBT'. Sexual orientation is about sexual attraction to people of the same sex, the opposite sex, or both sexes, whereas 'gender identity' is a fiction that denies the reality of sex altogether."
Many women left the Labour Party, disgusted by Labour's embrace of 'gender identity' ideology. Likewise, the SNP's Gender Recognition Reform Bill lost it much of its support, and helped to force Nicola Sturgeon's resignation.
