As Thick As Two Short Planks

funny-3459623_1920 Stupid is as Stupid Does

For many years I have pondered the cunning, deceitfulness and often seemingly sinister actions of our elected Members of Parliament and Governments, I have tried to understand why they were so happy to surrender our country to rule from the European Union and why they are all so besotted with 'Net Zero' and spout a lot of nonsense about global warming. I have watched them in debates on TV, they are so self assured and convinced they are right and that those of us who disagree with them are confused or just plain wrong. I have wondered how can they can believe in and spout this stuff? Then it dawned on me - the great majority of our MPs are just thick - they are dimwits trying to sound intelligent.

For the great majority of us we go about our daily lives, doing the work we have been trained in, often with long apprenticeships usually studying at college or university to become qualified. For me to work in my first job as a gents hairdresser I had to spend two years on a City & Guilds course in the early 1960's to qualify. Yet to become a politician no training, qualifications or skills are required, other than to be able to shout nonsense more convincingly than your opponents in order to be elected.

No experience whatsoever is required to become a local councillor, Member of Parliament, Metro Mayor or a Police and Crime Commissioner, I should know as I have stood as a candidate in six general elections, one European election and over twenty council elections. I have given up standing in elections, as Groucho Marx once said: "I don't want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member"! Fortunately for the electorate I was never elected in any of those elections. Less fortunate, others even worse than me were elected!

Over the years I have seen it so many times, someone who is no genius manages to be elected and before you know it they become full of their own self importance, they deign to see their constituents once a week, some even less, and for our MPs they live the high life working in the magnificent Palace of Westminster pretending to be important and never failing to tell anyone who will listen how hard they are working on important matters of state. Inevitably, the laws they make usually create massive problems for the rest of us as the laws they dream up, more than often, usually make little sense and ignore the law of unintended consequences.

A classic case is the future problem our unthinking politicians are in the process of creating, which will be a massive problem and great disaster for the people they allegedly represent. Even these dimwits should know that if you ban the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles to be replaced with electric, in just a few years from now, while at the same time they have been actively closing down coal power stations, refusing to frack for shale gas and ensuring there is no future investment in oil exploration and production, while increasing our reliability on unreliable energy such as wind and solar, a great energy crisis is on its way. Hardly any of our politicians have stopped to consider that when you force people to use increasing amounts of electricity, rather than petrol, diesel, gas and coal, while at the same time you make the supply of power less reliable, a great disaster is coming. Only those who have little brain power can consider this a good thing and somehow, like Mr Micawber, they believe "something will turn up".

Anyone elected to Parliament, who was once possibly doing menial unskilled work, could easily become a Minister in Government and a member of the Cabinet, or even the Chancellor of the Exchequer or Prime Minister with massive responsibilities - no prior training required.

These dimwits are the ones now deciding the world is heating up and so-called global warming must be stopped with 'Net Zero'. Have they actually stood back and considered the nonsense they are coming out with and the consequence of their actions? Has it dawned on them the amount of misery they are storing up for the rest of us? People on low incomes cannot afford new cars, let alone electric cars which are priced a great deal more than petrol or diesel cars. Because those on lower incomes have to drive older cars they are the poor souls who are forced to pay for these ill thought out pollution charges in towns and cities in order to go about their daily lives, either that or give up work and claim benefits because they can't afford the daily cost of these pointless so-called pollution charges.

Our elected representatives are coming out with all sorts of ill thought out schemes to stop people from driving, all based on science our politicians know nothing about or have any qualifications to make decisions on. In fact, the term 'net zero' should stand for their total knowledge of climate science which they believe in but have little understanding of or why they believe in it other than the fact a self declared climate specialist has told them so - including the child, Greta Thunberg. If we had politicians with more brain cells than the average amoeba they would question where global warming science is coming from and query the evidence which is more than often very suspect. If our politicians had any brains they would be asking what proof those peddling this science have based their facts on and what personal interests and benefits are there for those promoting this suspect science. If they did so they may come to the conclusion that the wrecking of peoples lives is not worth it, all for saving the tiny global percentage of pollution Britain produces as one of the least polluting countries in the world.

We no longer have people in charge who are clever, who probe and question, other than in the case of political correctness and woke affairs. We have people who just follow the herd and do as they are told, who are gullible and foolish and apart from a small minority, most of our political leaders are as thick as two short planks.
